Re: Pccn Exam

Make sure that you study from the test blueprint that the AACN has on their site for the test. It will tell you what to study and how much each area is weighed. There are a few test materials out there for the PCCN, but no specific study books per se. I haven't been out of school that long, so I used the blueprint and my fourth semester acute care book.

Good luck

Re: Pccn Exam

There are a couple of study guides available which I have, one from a review I attended back in April, and one that was obtained through AACN by our education department. The test wasn't too horribly difficult, actually, many of the questions seemed poorly written, with not the best of options. I have 2 questions on the administration of IV Dilantin, which I haven't given in many years, since we give PhosFenytoin and then PO/NG Dilantin. I'm not even sure our facility has Dilantin IV. So overall, the test was not horribly difficult, and there ARE at least 2 study guide books out there floating around. You may also look into a review course, do a search and see what you come up with.

Hope that helps,
Doug

Re: Pccn Exam

I took the PCCN exam today and passed.. I took the review classes at Trends in Critical Care Nursing in Sept 06 in Valley Forge PA, then used the program CD's to study from. Cardiac was the biggest part of the exam and the part that I scored the least in.. Study the cardiac and review the rest of the stuff and you should do fine...
