Is anyone familiar with an Ekos machine and what should a nurse document about it? I know I have to chart about the sheath, Dressing, the thrombolytic being used but what about the waveform and percentage the machine is working at and how often would you chart that?

Re: Ekos Machine

If any of you are interested in what an EKOS machine is, here's the site: http://www.ekoscorp.com/pdEK_prod.html. So far what I know about it is that it is hooked up to patient, patient comes back to the floor a stepdown unit and stays on the ekos machine throughout the night-it has Urokinase(a Thrombolytic), Normal Saline which is the coolant because the ekos machine makes the artery get really hot. Our main job is to check their pedal pulses q1 hr, check for bleeding q1hr. But what I am wondering about is what needs to be documented about the actual machine
