hi evryone...
i'm a nurse residing here in the Philippines..
i'm interested to know anyone doing echocardiography and maybe exchange experiences and knowledge with them...
im interested in pursuing a career in cardiac nursing..can someone give some insights of this specialty?..

not usually performed by nurses??? ..i have met one in yahoo groups..she's an RN at the same time an RDCS (registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer)..and she's earning more than being a plain nurse...so far..i think i have met 5-8 RN's in that group doing echocardiograms...

here in the philippines..echocardiography, stress testing, ECG are all under one department--the NON INVASIVE lab...

I have worked in several different states, CCU, CVICU, as well as open heart teams, and never at one of those facilities, was there a sonographer that was also a Registered Nurse. You may have met a few on-line but that is definitely no tthe norm.

YES..u dont have to be an RN to be a sonographer...but...as a nurse... it is accepted as a pre-requisite....

only one group?...ahh yes...one group...
echocardiography group..not only in US but also in UK, China, etc...and these guys were not only technicians or plain sonographers..they are ardms qualified..others are cci qualified...and not only that..there are also cardiologists...see for yourself...

hi!i am also a fil.working in a cardiac unit here in canada.our ecg's are performed by technicians and not by nurses.but nurses can do ecg's after pacemaker programming by p.m.nurses.
