TPAPN IS MAKING ME CRAZY!! I've been in this program for a year and haven't been able to find work. I'm an RN with a BSN, and I'm also a recovering addict-proud to say I have 3 years clean and sober. I thought this program was set up to help nurses with recovery and be reintroduced into the nursing field?? I'm finding out that this is not the case. To make matters worse, I have a record now-I was arrested, successfully completed deferred adjudicated probation--but I'm afraid my carrer is over . I've had several interviews and was even offered a position, as I was completely honest about my background, BUT--was told later that the offer had to be denied due to HR disapproval. Where do I go, what do I do?? I desperately want to return to the work that I've worked so hard to get. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles finding employment... I too have had similiar circumstances. Have you tried the local clinics or dialysis facilities?

All I can say is,,, apply EVERYWHERE! Go on interviews,, Don't just pick the desirable jobs. GO to nursing homes, even if that is not what you want. Apply everywhere, I cannot stress that enought. I was down and out for about 6 months, until finaly I just started applying everywhere and the day I got my job, it was the 4th interview I had that day. You will get experience in interviewing, and you will get turned down. BUT, you will learn how to approach the subject with the Director of nursing. Another piece of advice, do not tell the recruiter tat ou are in tpapn. Wait until you are interviewing with the person that is in charge of hiring. And be honest with them. Dont' be nervous. Be sure of yourself. Project that. That is what I finally had to do. I learned how to do that during all of the interviews i went on. It is hard... I know it, but you will get through it. There ARE places that will hire tpapn nurses.
