Question State univ vs private univer in San Diego

Hi! I'm currently working on my last pre-req for a nursing program and general ed classes to transfer to San Diego State. I'm told that it is very competative to get in-it's by a point system. There's about 500 applicants and only about 60 get in. I know already that out of 87 points I'll be short by about 7. I'm worried I won't get in. I also heard about a private university-Point Loma Univ but is a lot more expensive but it is easier to get in. Does anyone have any information about this? The schools? Maybe you went through the program at either. I would really appreciate some advice or just shared experience.

I personally don't know much about either school, but why don't you just apply to both? There's a chance you'll get into SDS, but maybe PLU could be your back-up.

Good luck.

PLU has a very good program; I agree, apply for both. If you can afford it, go to PLU. Smaller school, great program vs huge state school, good program, but I personally would rather the individual attention.
