Some advice about direct hiring vs. agency needed

Hello,

I'd just like to know what are my chances of landing a good job out there in the US, without too much hassles and avoiding too much fees. I am a newly registered nurse in the Philippines.

I am reviewing for my NCLEX here in the Philippines, and am planning to find a nursing job preferably at NY area where some of my friends live.

Here in the Philippines, there have been a lot of agencies offerring us placement abroad for free. It's so hard to decide what to do cos we all know that not all things are free.

I would want to know how direct hiring works.

I also want to know if ever I go direct hiring, do some hospitals reimburse or offer payment/help for immigration, etc?

Thanks.
