Hi all. New here. Looks like a great site.

I got my BS in ecology in '93 with gpa of 3.3 and now want to get a BSN and work in California where I am now. I have checked out the 10 or so accelerated BSN programs in California, but many have cutoff gpa's above my 3.3, or have 5 or 7 year limits on prereqs, or have many new prereqs like pathophysiology, etc. which my local junior college doesn't offer.

So, discouraged, I am planning on doing the 2 year RN and then online RN-BSN route after taking anat and physiol this year....Unless I can find the right accBSN school outside of california.

I am free of house, mates, kids, dogs, hamsters, etc, so I able to go to school anywhere in the country, but I don't know which
U.S. schools have accel BSN programs that qualify for california license standards. It would also be nice to know which of those has no term limits on prereqs and which has few new prereqs (beyond the standard anat and physiol).

Any help greatly appreciated

i don't have the answer to your question but wanted to say that you can take pathophys online with Santa Barbara Community College.

Also, my friend just graduated from an ABSN program in arizona. After she does her time there she plans to move back to CA.

I took an 11-month accelerated program in Philadelphia. A month after, I took the NCLEX here in Cali and am now working as an RN in San Francisco. Prior to that, I took classes at a community college. It was worth taking the prereqs at a community college: cheaper and instructors seem to care more. i too had a b.s. prior to my bsn. any more questions, e-mail me. good luck.

I'm going to do the ABSN program at Samuel Merritt College. Many of the prerecs can be done online, including the patho requirement. That is how I did my prerecs. Check out the following link for a list of programshttp://www.allnursingschools.com/

Also, most programs only require above a 3.00, as far as I know.

There is no program in the US that will accept pre-reqs or any required hours that are fifteen years old. That is well beyond the time limit of any program that I am aware of.

Completing the hours that are needed will give you a chance to bring up your GPA and that is what many are going to be looking at.

Most accelerated programs qualify for licensure in CA, but the issue is in getting the required hours completed to get accepted to a program. That is going to take you a year to get done, even to get into a regular two year program, they all still have pre-reqs and that will take you a year to complete.
