I don't understand what makes you think that they don't accept students with a GED?

On the application form on their website, there is a spot to mark off what your secondary education was...GED is a choice.
http://www.sacn.edu/application_standardapply.html

Also, reading the requirements of admission into the BSN program, it doesn't say anything about high school education.

Make an appointment with a counselor and go for it!

Also, what it says about prerequisite courses is that you must have completed 32 credits (including at least one course in anatomy/physiology, microbiology or college chemistry) before applying. The students granted final acceptance into the nursing program must have completed the required 64 prerequisite semester hours with an minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.

The 32 units can be from any accredited college in your area as long as the classes meet the standards of Saint Anthony's.

This can all be so confusing!

Seriously, contact a counselor.

Good Luck!

Most colleges and universities accept GED's.

Don't let not having completed high school in the traditional way stop you from pursuing your dreams!!

Smile Getting into nursing school (scared)

Hello:

I have a bachelors of arts in psychology and looking to change my career to nursing. I worked about five years in social service and the money was less than 23,000 a year. I am a single mother of three children under 10. I would like to go into mental health nursing because I love psychology.

I am a little scare that I am not smart enough to go to nursing school. I am not good in math. I love science, but not the math part. I am a little scare of taking board exams.

The start salary of a RN :hatparty: is more than I will make in 3 years of social service employment. I know that I will make a good nurse because I know how it feels to be sick. Some nurses are not very caring to the sick.

I am thinking about purchasing the NCLEX-RN study guide by Peter Morrison founder of NCLEX-RN Secrets. Is the study guide worth purchasing for the pre-exam?

Should I go to the LPN program first?

Need Help,

moon30

Dinkykitty - I say go for it also. My youngest son dropped out of school, ended up with his GED and has been at the community college since January - doing very well. You will do fine.

Moon30 - believe me, if I can do the math, you can. Math that nurses uses are usually ratios and drug calculations. I memorized a few formulas, plug my numbers in and away I go. Math is my worst subject and always has been. Good luck.
