RN looking for a job

hi everyone. i'm a licensed nurse in the philippines with less than a year of clinical experience there. now im here in the US and i recently passed the NCLEX and im looking for a job. i have been sending applications, posting my resume online. im a feeling a little discouraged because i feel like most of the hospitals require experience for at least a year here in the US, which i obviously lack. i received two calls already and both were requiring experience. how does one get a nursing job when most require experience? i know its a little early to feel discouraged since i have only started to look for a job online for a week, but since im new here, i just feel totally lost.

i would appreciate any advice anyone would give. thank you.

Re: RN looking for a job

Hi there;
There are plenty or places that hire new nurses. You have to focus on applying to bigger hospitals that have new grad/re-entry programs. The'll probably have sign a contract to stay with them for a length of time but in return you get really great training involving a classroom and clinical setting. Contact the nurse recruiter for the bigger hospitals in your area, especially the teaching facilities.

Good luck

Try long termcare for about a year. That will give some experience and ample time to adjust to the American way of life after that you may apply to one of the hospitals.

welcome to the site

DO you have your green card and have you met requirements with board of nursing and passed NCLEX?

The best things you can do is check out the hospitals first and see they have to offer, they may accept your experience but there again they may not that is something you have to work out with them. Also check out the Texas forum which you can find by clicking the local tab and then the united states

you know you're lucky compare to us new nurses here in the philippines... You have already passed the NCLEX and at the same time... you are already there in the US... While us, we're still on our way to pass the NCLEX.... I think you should be patient at the moment and soon you'll gonna see what lies before you... Just have in faith and pray to GOD always...

Good luck!

Thank you for your advice. I have a green card and also have TX RN license. I think I would start my work from a nursing home for adjusting my life here. Does anyone know any nursing home hiring? Any input would be appreciated.
