Mr. Blank, a 34 y/o fell from a tree and smashed his chest against a large branch on the way down. When standing he becomes dypsnic and dizzy. What are you going to do?

Mrs. Blank, a 67 y/o has right eye is drooping and she is not using her right arm. What is her problem and what are you going to do?

Mr. Blank, a 40 y/o who was in a automobile accident had a left tib fib fracture that has been stabilized and now has a temp. in the SICU. He appears diaphoretic and is breathing harder than usual. What do you do?

Are there any resources to prepare for the PBDS test. I have been an RN since 1978 and will have to take this exam soon for a new position. I am hearing horror stories and have to say I am nervous. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Med. surg. book

You want to know how to recognize the common diseases when given raw clinical data. Than you are going to Assess, Intervene, and Anticipate Treatment. Spend sometime reviewing a med. surg. book to reaquaint yourself with "common" diseases, stroke, heart attack, withdrawl, sepsis, pneumonia, superinfection, acute abdomen following trauma, cerebral hematoma, etc.

Please do a "search" on this BB for PBDS - there are a number of very informative threads on this topic that are more timely than this thread.
