Question New Grad, So confused

Hi! I graduated in December 07 and received my RN license about 3 weeks ago. I am having trouble finding a job. I need to work around my 4 children, which I am finding difficult. I am trying to work 8 hour shifts instead of 12 because daycare doesn't keep my kids for the full 12 hours. I was offered a night 3/2 split position, but have no idea what that is. She said it would be 3 2 split every other weekend....Could someone tell me what that means? Also, any suggestions on where to find an 8 hour nursing job that doesn't include nursing homes? Thanks so much!!!!

Re: New Grad, So confused

Have you considered school nursing? The OR (at least at my facility) offers 8 hour shifts - but not a normal 9-5... We start at 0630-1500. Good luck in the job hunt. Congrats on passing your boards.

Re: New Grad, So confused

I work in an Adult Day Care center the hours are 9am-5pm monday thru Friday. I used to work 9am-4pm at an ICF facility with disabled adults monday thru friday. I have also worked a weekend program and as a school nurse mon, wed, friday. I had the same kind of childcare issues. There are options out there you may just have to look around a little.
