Our NICU has been really SLOW. I'm not sure why. It's lasted a long time...about 3 months now. A lot of us are floating. I've been to PICU and they are very busy. I am thinking about working there because I'm per diem, so I need the hours. I won't be getting enough hours in the NICU so I've been asking people if they want me to work for them. They've also taken a lot of time off due to our low census....so I'm thinking PICU is where I should go...but I'm nervous about it. I've floated to other units over the years, but haven't consistently cared for older pts. in a long time!! I could ask for younger pts. but they might not always have them.
I would appreciate any encouragement, I'm not good at switching jobs...I did that ONCE in the last 17 years!
