medication competancy exam help

Hello,

I have been out of the nursing field raising my family and now want to start again. I will have to take a medication test that should be relatively easy but I am so nervous and have no clue what to review! Any advice? Thanks

I'm in the same situation as you, but I took an RN refresher course. They reviewed medication routes and dosage calculations. As far as a review of specific medications, not really too much, although we did have some clinicals and we were responsible for knowing the meds our patients were taking. Where are you from and how many years have you been away from nursing? I just decided to take the refresher course even though I had kept my license current all of these years. It's kind of scary to me, but also kind of exciting to think about going back into the field.

You could ask the facility you want to work for, 1 of the 3 places I worked for gave us a list of common meds found on their test. Make sure to review the different types of insulins, I had several ?'s on that. Good luck!!!
