Job has not called back yet! ugh!

Hello everyone!

I am a new grad nurse, graduated NYU in January and just passed my boards. I went on a job interview 2 weeks ago tomorrow. During the interview, everything went great. I got to tour the unit and the nurse manager was amazing...there was such a great vibe on the unit. I was told that the next orientation was going to be on April 17th, and I told them that worked perfectly for me. In the end, the lady told me that I would fit in perfectly on the unit, and that they just had to run a background check on me, but she was looking forward to seeing me on the 17th (my start date)

I was so excited when I left there, it sounded like I had the job! But, 2 weeks later and they have not called me back. Shouldnt they have called even if they decided not to accept me? I got another job offer in a hospital that I am not that interested in, so I am waiting to hear back from this one. I tried calling the nurse recruiter on monday, and left a message....but still noone has been in touch with me.

Does it usually take this long? I know that my background check would come up clean, so I am really upset

Sometimes longer. Did you mail or email a thank you note to the interviewer? Sometimes those followups will get their attention especially if they have alot of applicants to go through. I would do that and then follow up with a call several days after you email or mail.
