I'm seriously thinking that someday I might enjoy teaching. But right now, I work in Peds. I really want to get be a pediatric nurse practitioner also. I'm really having a hard time trying to decide what I want to go for. So, if I got the PNP, would I be able to teach? Or would I need to get a masters in nursing education?

It is v. common to teach nursing with a clinical Master's (PNP, CS, etc.) Most nursing faculty don't have MSNs in nursing education, they have a clinical degree. If you review the ads for nursing faculty, you'll see that they often specify that they require that certification in an advanced practice specialty. Of course, that varies from school to school.

I agree with elkpark's post. However, I would add that in the interest of being a good teacher, you should probably look to take some elective classes in nursing education. It might mean a little extra work on your part, or add a little to the cost of your MSN, but it would help you be a better teacher.
