How Long should I give after an interview?

I had an interview last tuesday. The manager said that HR would have to get back to him with a salary quote, then he would call so I could accept or reject so the pre-employment process could start. Its been a week, should I call him or give it more time? The interview went well IMO, so either HR is slow or something is wrong...I'm betting on the slow part. I really like this place, and the education benefits can't be beat. I'm really tempted to call tomorrow if only to say I'm very interested in this position. Its not my first choice, but at this point I need a job and its not a bad one.

Re: How Long should I give after an interview?

So, HR has not given him a salary quote, thus you are unable to accept the job and start working.

Humm...
I think a week is a long stretch of time...if I were you I would call HR and tell them you interviewed last week, you are very interested in starting a career with them, and then ask what the status of your application is. That way they can tell you where you/ they are in the hiring process.

Call, you have nothing to lose by doing so. It's scary to call when it comes to getting a job, but I think a week is a good enough length of time.

Well, I called today and left a voicemail. Hopefully I shall get a response tomorrow, otherwise I will call again.
