Hi, My name is Mark and I am a Senior in Highschool.
For some time now, i've wanted to become a CRNA, but getting into college is getting stressful for me.
I had a rejection letter stating i did not meet the csu requirements because i had a 2.18 GPA on my transcript.
A representative from that CSU was at our school a week ago from today and she called me in because i had questions about my GPA.
She recalculated my 10-12 Cummulative GPA (no P.E) and told me i had a 2.59 gpa and i would probably be accepted.
Unfortunately i recieved a call from her today telling me she recalculated wrong and i actually had a 2.41, and i needed a 2.43 to meet the requirements.
There may still be hope because i need to send in my final senior transcript and have my GPA recalculated from this last semester and hopefully i do well enough to meet the requirements to get in, but i feel like time is running out.

I just wanted some opinions and some guidance on what i should do because i'm scared i won't become a CRNA. My mother was an immigrant from the philippines and she told me to go to school there because it will be faster with no waiting lists, but i don't want to be away from home.

I have a few questions:
Should i take pre-reqs at a community college then transfer to a UC or CSU? How long would that take?
Should i wait for my final transcript to see if i get in?
How long does it usually take when getting your BSN from a CSU, including the wait time?
Is there a possible way to move up the waiting list or pass it? (for example getting really good grades? 3.6 and up)?

I appreciate all the help and i am looking forward to some advice, i recieved that call a few hours ago and as you can imagine, im pretty upset and scared for my future. thanks again.

I dont think there is anything wrong with taking your prerequisites at a junior college. If your goal is a BSN then you can take the prereq's at the JC and transfer to the state university. If you are in California by the way, the the CSU's and UC's are getting harder and harder to get into. You can always start at a JC, do the prereq's and then apply for the 2 year programs and then move on to a BSN. Either way, not getting into a 4 year university is not going to harm your career.

You should really just try to finish your RN or BSN before you even think about those Advance nursing.

I agree. Get your BSN done for and work for a while. It will be a long.. way towards that CRNA. 4 years BSN, a few years clinical work (preferably Critical Care) and a bit of luck and determination.

And there are other specialties out there that you can gain love in.

If you don't get into a CSU and go to a JC instead, you can hopefully pull up your overall GPA making it easier to transer to a state university. AND it costs less. So if you get into the CSU, great! If you don't, you still have a great opportunity through a JC.

Either way, all you can do is try and do your best. If that doesn't get you where you want to be, then you reassess what your options are and shift your plans a bit. Plans and goals are what get you going in a direction and that's a good thing. But since you haven't been where you are going, you may find along the way that there's a better destination for you. So get started on your journey. You'll either reach your goal eventually, or turn off on another path for a different but also rewarding and satisfying goal.
