CRNA Hopeful

Good evening all! I am a freshan in my first year of a pre-nursing program. I have had my sights set on becoming a CRNA for nearly three years now. I know many people ask, but what grades do I need to be competitive? If the first semester was to end today my GPA would be roughly 3.5, with a Science gpa of nearly 3.7. I attend a prestigious school, Belhaven College, in Mississippi. I also have two summers of CRNA shadowing, among other things. I am very motivated and have my sights set on this career no matter what. Any pep or info regarding admissions is helpful. I get tired of constantly scanning the CRNA program sites that often will not give out this information. Thanks to all who reply!

Check out the pre-crna forum it should answer all of your questions. There are several threads just on these topics.

In general, from what little I know of civilian CRNA schools, is that GPAs above 3.5 are generally competitive, school names/prestigious schools don't necessarily help getting in, your main focus right now should be on nursing school, and then finding a job in critical care. The best general information can be found at the AANA website. Also, just try googling nurse anesthesia there are several websites that provide information on CRNA schools, anesthesia jobs, and getting into school.

I'm sure you will be fine Imgonna. I know that if I keep my grades where they currently stand and get the proper experience in the ICU, I will have no problem getting in!
