Can I be a nurse?\

In my youth I was quite a trouble maker. I have a record that includes such things as posession of stolen property, posession of alcohol(when I was a minor), posession of marijuana, and posession of cocaine. I have since smartened up and really changed my life. I want to become a nurse, and have started my pre reqs. I am wondering if it is even possible to become a nurse with such a background. Can anyone answer that question for me?

It's really great that you have straightened your life out. As far as being a nurse, the only thing that you can do is talk to your State Board of Nursing to see if it is even possible for you to be awarded a license. You will also want to check into the Nusing program that you are interested in attending to find out their policy and if they would be willing you accept your or not. What ever you do, do not hide anything. They will find out everything from you past and probably also want to see court records. Good Luck!

Re: Can I be a nurse?\

You know it is so unfortunate that I was not thinking of my future when I decided to go out and experiment. Now it may haunt me forever. Thank you for the reply, Michelle, I will look into the state boards and my college of choice.
