Aussie RN - in need of advice

Hi,
I have been nursing for over 16 years (oncology for the last 5 years). I am now living in Southern California with a working visa. Unfortunately I need to make up OBS (prac 80 hours/theory 40 hours) to gain my CA RN license - which i cannot start until January next year.

Any ideas on what i can do until then? Obviously i am not licenced to practice as an RN... which is so disappointing considering i don't intend to do any maternity nursing. Do i work as a medical assistant? what other possibilities are there?? Are the bigger hospitals an option or should i look at smaller medical offices. I would appreciate any advice.
thanks again!
