Seems like it would be hard to prove that the flouride caused the CA. The dental world would be in an uproar if the flouride was taken out of the water (per my wife who is a dental assistant). To the flouride haters...just filter your water !!!!!!

I also have heard that the flouride in dollar-store types of toothpaste does not contain the amount of flouride approved in the US and can be quite toxic (especially if swallowed). I have also switched my ADD son to natural toothpaste because flouride can aggravate sx for ADDers.

The safety of flouride has been questioned for some time.

I say, look at peer reviewed studies on it. Draw your own conclusion.

When I lived in San Antonio, it was the largest US city without Fluoride in its water supply. It was voted down twice by residents. I moved in 1995.

In 2000, they finally got the vote they wanted and started adding fluoride to the water.

But it was big news there, for a long time.

I never realized there was this big "controversy". I learn something from this forum daily...

I also agree that too much of ANYTHING is bad for you. Personally I hate the taste of our city water so we use our fridge and change the filters frequently (guess I won't get cancer that way).

Probably true but I'm more worried about the sodium laurel sulfate and propylene glycol! (is there a reason my teeth need anti-freeze?!?!) Your son is so much better off!

I buy Mt. Shasta Spring Water with added Fluoride since we don't have it up here in the mountains and the largest cities in my county voted it down.

I have a 4 year old with some genetic enamel problems and he had 17 cavities when he was 3. I was appalled - my 3 older kids didn't get any cavities until they were old enough to sneak Skittles into school pocketed between their cheek and gums (my oldest did this and got 6 cavities and his dental hygenist uses this story when she talks at the elementary schools - without mentioning names. )

He also uses Colgate Children's toothpaste. And gets regular fluoride treatments.

The article didn't actually note any of the studies - I'd be skeptical since every other day a new study says one thing and then the other.

More on fluoride. Maybe there is an alternative or they could just lower the level or something? It would be interesting to look at the dental history of families who refuse to use fluoride, and see what they are doing instead, and how effective it is. http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2...8/100645.shtml
