Question Probationary Licenses

I need help and advic. I am a nurse with an impeccable reputation. A couple of years ago, I received 2 DUI's, these came as completely out of character and occurred after a serious personal difficulty. I self reported to the board,I admitted to a misdemeanor, mylicense is on probation, conditions of which I abide by. However I cannot get a job, I have completed all asked of me, I abstain from alcohol,do regular random drug screens. I need advice, Anyone.

Re: Probationary Licenses

If you are having trouble finding a job in direct patient care, perhaps you could look into working with an insurance company. Just a thought. I don't think your probation would matter in that sort of position. Good luck!

I went away for 30 days to a treatment facility on my own. I had only been abusing opiates for 3 months before this happened so I didn't have withdrawel or anything. That was in august of 2002. no one will hire a nurse with a "probationary" status or one that has an "impaired nursing contract." What are we suppoae to do???
Does the hospitals where you live randomly test ALL employees?? Thay don't here in WV-I think they know they would lose lots of employees-and not just nurses!!
