Unhappy Practice Insurance

I am a new grad, getting ready to start my job as an RN (yea!!!) I know I need to get practice insurance to C.M.A. But where do I find this? Who provides it? If anyone out there has a good policy let me know if you would. Help would be greatly appreciated, since I don't know where to even start.

Thanks

THE COMPANY THAT I'VE HEARD PEOPLE USE IS " NSO" AND IT

RUNS ABOUT $89 YEAR FOR NURSES AND $20 FOR STUDENTS!!

YOU CAN'T BEAT THAT--MUCH BETTER THAN GETTING EVERYTHING YOU'VE WORKED FOR TAKEN AWAY FOR A LAWSUIT.

I have NSO! like JULZ wrote ...it's not expensive and has a great policy. Even helps pay for a lawyer if your license is threatened, but it's not by a lawsuit....(ex) need representation to go in front of the board for "drug diversion", etc....

I have NSO as well (have since school years ago) & haven't missed a payment yet. Your hospital may say you don't need it but they will kick you to the curb if they think you did something wrong! So much for so little! A wise investment.

I seriously doubt homeowner's will cover professional malpractice.

A malpractice policy doesn't cost that much, and could end up paying for itself 100X over.

Homeowner's DOES cover professional malpractice, at least mine does. There are plenty of people who offer it, but the underwriting is done by only a few companies with the others working as "agents" (sales). ANA and other organizations are examples. It pays to protect.

Ahh. I've never heard of that before. I'll stick with NSO though. Mainly for the legal coverage.

Ok, all I can say is, remember, Liability insurance covers costs of obtaining legal counsel, not just what you are responsible for if found liable in a suit. I would want it as much for legal counsel coverage, time missed off work for court appearances and the like, and the "extras" as I would for my responsibility in any finding of legal liablity in a the case of law suit against me. Does homeowners cover THAT? Better check it out!
