Question Herbology in Nursing, is it possible?

Hi, I am interested in starting a career in nursing, but I have been a practicing herbalist for close to 6 years now. I have seen what herbs can do for many of the common problems people have. I would like to take it with me into a nursing career.

Do nurses out there think that the use of herbal medicines and practices have a place in the care of patients or in hospitals?

Are there nurses out there using any kind of herbal medicines or principles in your work in hospitals, clinics, etc?

thanks for you replies

Yes, however, the nurse cannot prescribe herbal remedies. The best bet, at this point, is to work with a physician who utilizes "complementary" modalities of care.

I use some herbals myself and have tried some w/adverse results. I consulted with my physician. She flat-out stated that she was not informed in that realm and would/could not counsel me. I was stationed in Germany in the military and noted that they are way advanced in this area than the US. I am wary however, b/c have read/heard recent reports that in there is no consistency in what you are getting when you buy these American bottled products. That is why I am very careful.

I forgot to say that one of my client's was on a bunch of these products, they were on the med sheet and plan of care, signed off by his MD, and we just administered them like any other med. I have seen that Springhouse came out with a drug guide for this, but I haven't even looked at it.
