Can anyone share with me info re their facility's policy for conscious sedation in the endoscopy suite? I'm looking for info regarding med administraton, time frame for administration of meds and to discuss the fine line between conscious sedation and deep sedation. Any help will be appreciated.

In our endoscopy suite the patient must be on a monitor, a pulse ox and a crash cart must be readily available. One nurse to to push meds and watch the VS, and one nurse or OR tech to assist the physician. VS q 5 min. Oh yeah, pt is usually put on O2. Afterwards the patient has to be monitored for at least another 1/2 hour. Consent form must be signed and pt must have someone available to drive them home. Hope this helps.
