I'd really appreciate any info on your hosp policies. Are you allowed to transfer pt equipment along with the patient when they are transferred to a different floor? Or does the recieving floor have to order all new stuff, ie: aqua K pad, bedside commode, or any other stand alone equipment. I was told I wasn't allowed to move these things because they were "dirty" and couldn't be trasported on our elevators. When I asked how they get back to central service, the same person said with a straight face, "on the elevator". Since my hospital doesn't have a designated "dirty" elevator, this made no sense to me. Why is it ok to transport these items to central service, but not to the patient's room on the same elevator?

Oh yeah, this was one of the cleanest ladies I'd ever taken care of!
