Computer charting in Isolation Rooms

We will shortly be switching to all computer charting system. Consisting of computers on wheels and/or tablet PCs. In order to do the mandatory checks for administering meds we will have to have a pc of some sort in the room. How do other hospitals handle their computers in isolation rooms? How are they cleaned? Is one dedicated to each room and cleaned in between isolation patients? Thanks for any advice.

Re: Computer charting in Isolation Rooms

Hi. In our hospital, we are using "washable" keyboards that can actually be submerged in water for cleaning. We wipe them down with germicidal cloths after they have been in patient rooms. Right now, we only use these keyboards for isolation rooms, but hope to have them for all the rooms. The keyboards get really grungy! I don't remember the name, but you can google "washable keyboards" for the sites.

Re: Computer charting in Isolation Rooms

Thanks for the info on washable keyboards. Do you dedicate a computer to each isolation room and then clean after patients is discharged? How is the computer itself cleaned? We are going Live in 2 weeks and these details have yet to be worked out
