How do you get organized? I can never find what I need at the time that I need it!
I only have those two big pockets in my scrub top and at any on time i have:
-prefilled saline syringes
-tons of alcohol pads
-alligator clamps
-IV start kits
-scissors
-tape
-pens
-papers
-etc!
I've seen some nurses using their scissors (don't know what type) to hold their tape...the scissors clamp onto the bottom of their shirt.
Is it possible to keep just pens, tape, and alcohol in your pockets, and get everything else when needed? That, in addition to my stethoscope, is all that is in my pockets, and when I need the others, I grab them before I walk into my rooms.
LOL I always wear the scrub tops with 2 bottom pockets AND a scrub jacket with 2 pockets. Can't do without my pockets. The scrub jacket pockets carry all my supplies for work, my scrub top pockets carry my personal stuff - palm pilot, smokes, mints, phone (ringer off). If something's missing, I notice it immediately LOL.
We all have our ways. Have a friend who wears a pack that straps to her thigh, would drive me nuts but works for her.
My tape and my small blunted scissors are attached to my stethoscope with an IV flush loop. I keep pens, alcohol, and my sharpie pen in my pockets. My phone is in my phone holder, and that's it. Everything else is in my cart...start kits, flushes, etc. I wasted more time when I was a new nurse, (and looked pretty stupid, probably) when I was searching my kangaroo pockets for stuff than it takes to walk out to my cart and get what I need.
