You don't have to be a nurse to start your own nurse agency?

I could not believe what I was reading. What a croc of bull. Unfortunately I'm sure there are people who have spent their hard earned money on this nonsense.

Starting or establishing your own nurse agency or nurse staffing agency does not need one to be a nurse. All you need is our packages and the desire to be self employed. This is the only industry where there will always be a shortage. There is never a fear for competition. Get our packages now and you can be in business in less than a week. It is time for any ambitious person to tap into this multi billion dollar industry.
Consider the following benefits of running your own nursing agency business:
* Be Your Own Boss.
* More Control Over Your Career .
* Work From Home And Spend More Time With Family.
* Set Your Own Hours.
* Have Unlimited Income Potential.
* Respect And Recognition That You Deserve.

[i]The new 2007 professional E-book edition on www.nursingagencysuccess.com]How to start a nursing agency will walk you through everything that you need to know about opening and running a nursing registry or nurse staffing agency. That is from choosing a name, forming a business entity, to charging your clients and paying your nurses, whether or not you are familiar with healthcare or a complete novice without prior business experience. Every step, from the planning phase to marketing and recruiting is meticulously laid out clearly and concisely, in a manner that is logical and easy to follow. We have included all the necessary forms and material that you need to get your business started as soon as possible.
Guide books on How To Start A Nursing Agency are flooding the internet. Most of these manuals are extracts from articles found on the worldwide web. Because individuals seeking to start their own nursing agency buy information guides that do not have all the contents and key tools for success, a good number of these agencies either fail within their first year of business or simply never get to launch their new business.

This surprises you? Many, many businesses can and are owned by people who have no license or education in that particular field: they have the $ to hire people who do!

Most adminstrators (chief officers) in nursing homes do not have a nursing degree..Usually they have a mangament degree..The adminstrators do the hiring..

The hospital I work for is not owned by a physician. You see, oftentimes, business owners majored in Business, Accounting, Economics, etc., while in college. Makes sense, doesn't it. Another example: take sports teams...they are not owned by a sports player...they are owned by a business person. So, does it make sense that owning an agency can be done by a business person? Why yes it does, absolutely.

I do realize that. That is a fact of business, if you have the money you can start any business. Build a store, a restaurant, a hotel, anything your heart desires and can pay for. It's done all the time and successfully so but that's not really what I was getting at but suppose I should have made myself clear.

The reason this particular site upset me, IMO, smacked of a kind of get rich quick scheme aimed at those who think they are nurses in every sense other than the fact they don't have a degree or a license. For $99.00 you too can:

Consider the following benefits of running your own nursing agency business:
* Be Your Own Boss.
* More Control Over Your Career .
* Work From Home And Spend More Time With Family.
* Set Your Own Hours.
* Have Unlimited Income Potential.
* Respect And Recognition That You Deserve.

Some people believe everything that is in print is the truth....

That's an understood, well known fact, but not what I'm referring to.

That's funny because I'm a nurse and I don't do any of those things.

Re: You don't have to be a nurse to start your own nurse agency?

My aunt is not a nurse and she is in the process of starting her own home health agency, in part because she is the mother of a special-needs child that needs 24/7 care. But I think she is doing it a little more sensibly than the website you posted describes! She has a MS degree (not MSN) but is surrounding herself with people who DO know about nurses/nursing. So I think she's doing it a little more sensibly. And she does have the administrative experience.

But I agree with you Dutch. That website does sound a little fishy.

Re: You don't have to be a nurse to start your own nurse agency?

Enterprise is a particular quality not found in everyone. I rather like to be paid by the hour every 2 weeks regularly.
Business owners work against the odds. The rate of failure is high. The work hours are far more than 40 hours a week in the beginning. How long are you willing to put in these long hours for no pay? It often takes a long time before a business begins to pay. If it does not, you can end up deep in debt. A business owner never has much security. If all goes well, then you can make lots of money.
When I see these start your own business ads, they make owning a business sound easier than being an employee. Just a reality check.

Re: You don't have to be a nurse to start your own nurse agency?

Dutchgirl, from your original post it's unclear what exactly you're upset with. Is it ...

... that a non-nurse can run a nursing agency? This is what your original post sounded like, though you later clarified that wasn't the case.

... that setting up a nursing agency is being billed as an easy do-it-yourself get-rich-quick scheme? That might make it seem as if nurses must not be doing anything very skillful or specialized if it's THAT easy to start a business where you are connecting nurses with jobs.

... the unethical tactics of claiming that for just $99 you will be on the fast track to running a successful business of your own? This is clearly a questionable claim for any proposed business and preys upon naive people, like so many other get-rich-quick schemes out there. Perhaps it was a shock to see such a familiar business touted in this manner.

The reality is, though, that many people have started their own small business of a nursing agency and been successful. Of course, many tried it and failed as well. It IS a legitimate business plan, but NO business is a sure thing, and this type of marketing makes it sound as if starting this kind of business is a walk in the park.
