I posted before that I was going to start working in sleep center, but I declined that position because I got an offer from a large cardiac practice that offers really good benefits.

Anyone have any tips on working that closely with the docs in an office? I feel kind of nervous because I am a new nurse and I don't want to mess up and have docs yelling at me lol.

Just my own humble opinion: I have worked for doctors and loved the job. I think the hardest doctors to get along with are cardiologists. Seems to me their ego's get in the way. Could work out just great, you can always change jobs if it doesn't work out. Good Luck.

I'm in nursing school, and have worked as a phlebotomist as well as medical assisting (non certified) in a large physician's practice. Get to know your doctor(s) well! By this I mean learn their preferences. Learn how they like for things/tasks to be done. Each doctor is going to have a different style in how they want things set up, paperwork done, etc.
Hopefully you will be paired up with ONE doctor, and that way you can settle into some sort of a routine.

For some bizarre reason the office doc is completely different that the raving maniac you call in hte middle of the night. I worked for 2 cardiologists one was the greatest teacher I ever had about all kinds of stuff cardiolgy wise. I learned more about rhythms. I could figure out any strip with a pair of calipers and a couple of minutes. The other one I did lots of leg work for him and every Thursday was heart cath day and he showed me things I would never have been taught in nursing school.
Working for cardiologists was the best for learning experience I ever had and I had a killer base knowledge that far surpassed anything I learned in nursing school.

The best job I ever had was working for a cardiology group as an RN. They are much different when you work for them. The only reason I am not there is because I moved out of state. I loved it. When I first started, I kept a notebook with notes about each one's like and dislikes. i wanted to make sure I kept it all straight!! Good luck!!

Thanks for the replies. They did say I would be working with just one doctor. Hopefully the doc is nice.
