I think she is saying that illegal immigration is causing the ERs to become overcrowded, leading to decreased care (or at least decreased access secondary to long wait times).
I don't see it.
I've lived in the southwest, where illegal immigration was rampant. In fact, I had projects in nursing school (University of Arizona, in Tucson) that dealt directly with illegal immigartion. Now I live in the south, where it isn't much of an issue at all (I have forgotten 99% of the spanish I learned in college). That may be changing, but I haven't seen the impact yet.
The ERs here are just as crowded as they were in southern Arizona, if not more so.
I don't see ER overcrowding as an immigration issue, legal or illegal. In most cases, it is a "lack of alternatives" issue; either because the patient does not have insurance, or they have "bad" insurance, and it takes them 6 weeks to get an appointment to see their doctor, and they can't go to urgent care. Or they are just too lazy to call an make an appointment, since they can just stop by the ER on their way home from work.
(As an aside, I do wish that medicaid would realize that it would save the states money if the contracted with some urgent care facilities, but I digress).
Illegal immigrents are a segement of the population that use the ER inappropriatly, but they arn't the biggest abusers, and certainly haven't caused the problem.
If anything (from the patients I remember treating when I was in nursing school), as a group they tend to try to take care of things at home, as they are fearful of being "found out" and deported.

My apologies, please explain immigration law in the United States in the 1600's.....oh wait, that's right.....there was no United States.
We're not discussing immigration law in Mesopotamia either.....just in countries that exist today.
Also, since the US's inception, immigration laws have changed. So, it would be great if we could maybe talk about the situation today in countries that exist.
Peace,
Cathie

That's funny........I swear I have a piece of paper that says I am a US citizen, and another that says, since I was born on an Army post while my US-citizen father was serving his country, that I was born under the protection of the US government.
Wow.......I'm illegal!

IN MY OPINION: IF THE IMMIGRANT IS A CRIMINAL, THEN SEND THEM BACK WHERE THEY CAME FROM. WE START OUT AS GUESTS IN THIS COUNTRY AND MUST BEHAVE AS SUCH, UNTIL WE RESIGN OURSELVES TO LIVE IN EXILE BECAUSE GOING BACK IS NO LONGER A POSSIBLITY.
But remember Mariel. Whether an immigrant is a criminal in fact might depend on who says he is a criminal. They said Castro emptied his jails and sent over 125,000 people to Miami. But those so called criminals may have been imprisoned because they disagreed with the government or were homosexual or for some other "uncriminal" activity that did not please the government. IF it could happen in Cuba, it might happen in Haiti, or Mexico.

Wow, do you know that we lost a level one trauma center due to the amount of illegal immigrants using up the resources?
We are down to one now. This issue is a huge problem to the border states...

My geneaology reveals that I am 25% American Indian. Does that mean that 75% of me is illegal? If I am deported, what parts get to stay and what parts have to go back to Europe? Can I just pay a fine and stay and if so can I get a 25% discount?
Back to the OP. Trudy, it really bites that you cannot access services that you pay taxes for. Call your state senator asap.

"In 1987, scientists at Berkeley, California, studying mitochondrial DNA from human all over the world made the startling claim that all human races originated from one H. sapiens ancestor in Africa."
Is that mean we all are African?
No...Right!!! So I don't know the reason why you are telling me that you are 75% European and 25% Native Indian...
My point is this...Who owe this land before the European came? And I have no intention right here to mention how the Native Indian lost this land...that is another hit argument and it does not belong here...

Your first statement about Native Americans being the only legal ones didn't belong here. You're the one who got this going in another direction, don't blame Flyer.
