Where do the Happy Nurses Work?

Hi-
I hope every one is doing well! I am due to graduate in June and was wondering where you like to work? What floor? And Why?

Thank you!

I'm a happy nurse, since I got my new position. I work in an outpatient speciality office. My co-workers are awesome, my patients friendly, and my job interesting. Plus no holidays and weekends. I am soooooo blessed.

I am a Happy Nurse. I work in an occupational health clinic for a municipality. It is totally my speed, (fast but not scary), hours are great (M-F 7-4) and very autonomous. Anytime I have a cocnern I can send them on to the doc. Lots of lifestyle education opportunites. We have employees who have insurance but cannot afford the copay on a regular basis and provide services to them they would not get otherwise. We have a lot of men who work very hard outdoors and sometimes all they want is to come into somewhere cool and have a conversation. This has led to many opportunites to assess general health, monitor BP, glucose, make referrals to EAP and heaven forbid get to know them and their healthcare concerns!! Then there are they guys who almost cut their leg off with a chainsaw, or get bit by a lion...

I work at ZLB Plasma. I assess donor suitability and work with donors who are having adverse reactions. It is the best nursing job I have ever had, and pays well. I don't want to work in an in-patient setting ever again. I was burned out after years of LTC nursing when I hired on at the Plasma Center. No more nights, doubles, or handling nasty body fluids.

I wouldn't trade my job for any other nursing job. This is the first time I've been happy at a job in YEARS.

I'm a new Public Health nurse. I love it...as a previous poster said, "It's just my speed". There is a lot to learn and to know, but not really (immediate) life and death. I hope you find your niche.

Pediatrics. Get to play with kids. Talk trashy reality tv with teenagers. Hold babies. Makes up for all the work I have to do along with it.
