Job Issues - What would you do?

I took a second job at an ltc. On my first day of orientation state was there for full book survey.
The nurse I was orienting with and other staff nurses were telling me things like. The glucometers had not been checked in ten days (no solution). The nurse I was with told me that they threw her on the floor after one day orientation. I feel like I could do the job , but I don't want to get caught up in being responsible for things I have no control over; like no control solution for glucometers. When I asked a manager about a policy re : gt meds , and asked to see policy and procedure , there wasn't a manual on the nurses station. I finished my one day without touching a pt, and told staffing scd asst that I would be happy to finish orientation after survey. ( if they still wanted me)
What would you do? What would a prudent nurse do? Also the longest employed nurse on this shift had been there three weeks, the nurse orientating me had been there seven days.

Re: What would you do?

I think you already know the answer, but maybe just looking for some encouragement to do it?

Get outta there, as fast as you can.

Protect your license, because no-one else will.

RUN. Don't pass go, don't collect $200. Just run. Get the heck out of there. You do not want to get involved in that, I can tell you.

Re: What would you do?

I'm inclined to agree with the others.
It's not sounding like a place I'd agree to work in given what you have described here.

Re: What would you do?

RUN RUN RUN now. You will lose your license at that place. A new person being oriented by a person who has been there one week. As Bill Engvall would say "Heres your sign".

Leave.

And on the way out, report them to JAHCO. Sounds like more than nursing careers at stake there!!

EDIT: I just caught the part about state being there, I hope they figure out what is going on there!

Re: What would you do?

Just wondering if the OP is still reading these responses, or if she's on her way to the personnel office with her resignation letter

But ok, if you ARE still looking for feedback.....WHAT FOR? This is a place that looks like it's about ready to be closed down anyway. Might as well leave now, with your professional file intact.
