What would you do???

I work at a Hospice Center, I have been here full time baylor weekends since mid March. I never really wanted to work all weekends but it was available and I needed a job. Recently I have been trying to deceide if I want to stay in hospice or go back to oncology. I have 10 years in oncology and I love it, espicially gyn-onc. Anyhow, a friend of mine from an old job where I worked in the clinic with gyn-onc told me a lot of changes have happened in the clinics. The job that overwhelmed me and two other nurses has now been broken down into 3 different jobs. I was interested, I talked to the nurse manager who also was a past co-worker. Now, I do not know what I want to do. I love 12 hour shifts and the flexiblity of having only 3 days to work a week, but I also like having weekends off so I can go to church and what ever. My husband works a rotating swing shift so the 3 12 thing works for us. Lately I have been pondering what do I want to do and can not make up my mind. To make things even more confusing I have also been offered another job this one without even asking. An agency nurse who came to the center told me I would be a good teacher and wanted to know if I would want to teach CNA classes at a local college. That sounds really cool. I could do it if I stay on weekends, I do not know if I could do it if I take the Mon-Fri clinic job. What would you do work the 3 12 weekends or Mon-Fri weekend and holidays off?

Wow I would write down all the pro's and con's of each job.
The bottom line is what do YOU want to do. Only you know your home life and what will work.
Follow your heart and follow your passion is what I would suggest. What makes you the happiest in nursing and where you feel you can make a difference then go with that.
I wish you well in what ever decision you make.
You have time on your side don't feel pressured in making a decision that may not be the right one.

I would stay on my weekends and teach. That would be a new challenge for you and who knows where it may lead (your MSN and teaching nurses?) Sounds like you find that really interesting. Go for the new, untried territory. Oncology will always be there for you, this new opportunity may not be.

Sounds really fun!!!

I am the CNA Instructor at my facility and I love it. It is definately challenging and interesting. But only you can decide what you want to do. Good luck.

i would remain at the hospice facility, and take the teaching job.
no one can take away your yrs of oncology experience.
but you may never get another teaching opportunity, if that's what intrigues you.

best of everything.

Thank you for your input. I am about to leave to go on vacation for a family reunion. This should hopefully give me some time to think.
Again thank you
