I have my very first interview for an LPN job on Wednesday and I'm not sure what to wear. The temp is supposed to be about 90 that day, so I'd rather not wear a suit if I don't have to. This is actually my first job in any healthcare profession, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Any tips on interview questions I might expect would be great too!

I really don't have the answers for you, so until other posters have some insight, be sure to search the threads for keywords such as "interview" since the topic of what to wear and questions that may be asked have been discussed many MANY times and may offer some good advice none of us thought of this time around.

I have worn a very nice white nursing dress, yes a white nursing dress that was very professional looking and got hired. Yes, I have even worn a white skirt with a very nice ceil blue top, white nursing panty hose and white nursing shoes. Most people would not wear this but, it worked for me

Was hired on the spot and was told how very professional I looked in white and that one doesn't see too many "whites" worn this day and time.

It is ok to wear a nice pair of slacks and a nice blouse or sweater. No capris, tanks tops, flip-flops, short skirts or dresses.

I have seen people wear scrubs, that were clean, pressed, not cute tops or wild colors, solid colors are fine.

For the job I'm currently at, I wore a pair of light brown dress slacks, brown heels, a short sleeve lightweight aquamarine sweater that tied below the bustline and a matching tanktop underneath with a cute necklace and a chunky bracelet.
I think that as long as you look presentable and professional you will be fine no matter what.
Just no belly, or too much leg or cleavage showing, use mints and leave excessive makeup and perfume at home, and if you're going to show your feet in sandals or something, make sure your feet look nice too.

Wear something nice! Leave the jeans and t-shirts at home! Keep in mind, it may be hot out, but it is usually fairly cool inside the hospital, so even if you wore long sleeves you would probably be fine... but then again it is unattractive to be sweating like a pig in your interview Just wear something that looks professional and you will be comfortable in it.

Another thing to think about is your hands... make sure your nails look nice!

A nice blouse and a skirt or dressy pair of slacks would be sufficient in most enviornments. I highly recommend against wearing scrubs; I once overheard a hiring manager say that she couldn't take anyone who showed up in scrubs seriously. This seems to be the general consensus among managers, and I can not imagine that human resources representatives who come from the business world would have a different view.

For my interview last week, I wore a skirt suit (with panty hose) but then I just carried the jacket. I was comfortable in the air conditioning.

PS. I once made the mistake of wearing heels, and then we took at 20 minute tour of the facility. My feet were killing me and I'm sure I looked uncomfortable. I recommend flats or dress loafers.

A pair of dress slacks, a sleeveless shell with a lightweight short or 3/4 length sleeve dress blouse open over it works well in hot weather. Closed toe shoes look most professional rather than sandals. Keep jewelry to a minimum.
