What is a watch with a second hand?

Is that a digital watch that counts down the seconds? I am in my first semester at school. Please tell me because I have to buy it. I came here because you guys are more experienced. Thanks.

No, it's a real old fashioned item.

It's a watch that has three hands, an hour hand, a minute hand, and a second hand.

The second hand is used to count pulses with. You can count for 15 seconds, or for a full minute, for instance.

Oh my goodness! I'm pretty positive kids learn to tell time with an analog clock.

Have things changed since my youngest, who's almost 16, was in kindergarten?

Don't mean to make light of the OP, but this is funny!!

You watch the second hand counting pulse and respiration. Many times it is very important to know exactly the time something occurred.

If a watch already has a hour hand and a minute hand....then why is it called a second hand watch? Shouldn't it be called a third hand?

Hours - minutes - seconds.... hence "watch with a second hand"

rather than first hand - second hand - third hand....

LOL! This is why I won't purchase a digital display watch for my kids. They need to learn how to tell time on a watch that has the whole picture not just numbers displayed for them!
