What types of nursing...

do not require much lifting of adult patients?

I will be starting nursing school next year and am very interested in exploring my options for after nursing school. One of my biggest concerns is a back or knee injury from maneuvering patients even with proper body mechanics. I'm a pretty small person, about 4'11 and 80lbs.

I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter. Thanks!

Umm...If you work in a doctor's office or pediatrics...You will have a good chance of not having to lift heavy patients...

Obvioulsy anything with kids....

But most places are getting lift equipment if they don't already have it. We just got an EZ lift and it is absolutely AMAZING!!!!! Seriously I am a huge advocate of using it whenever possible! There are other products too, like mats and stands and stuff - an EZ lift is like a new and improved hoyer lift. If you don't want to work with kiddos, ask at interviews whether the unit has lift equipment.
