I work in a long term care facility and the rule there is no digital blood pressure cuffs. Most know how to take it manually, but sometimes its too noisy to hear correctlly or some aides were never taught to be accurate. Why are digital blood pressure cuffs considered bad? Don't most hospitals use them?

They are not as accurate, especially in those with irregular heartbeats, as many LTC residents have.

I work in a LTCF/SNF that permits digital blood pressure cuffs; however, they recently banned the wrist-cuff variety. Therefore, the only types of digital blood pressure monitors allowed at my workplace are the arm cuffs. People can call me lazy, but it is immensely difficult to obtain manual blood pressure readings on 30+ residents in a nursing home setting...so I utilize digital blood pressure monitors.

When I worked in the hospital on the tele unit digital bp machines were not allowed. They were removed from the unit and only used if 2 or more people were unable to obtain a bp.

I work LTC now and we only use digital.

Our hospital does not use the digital either, only manual and Dynamap machines. I prefer manual.
