What's your Christmas party?

by vrhodes

My agency is having a river cruise on Saturday night, dinner and drinks with a black and white theme- I can't wait! It's so good to meet up with other girls from my agency, we are always the outsiders, as agency staff!

What will your work christmas party be like?

For the people who have worked on Christmas day, what is it like? I know there's always the regular nursing care to give each patient, but do you guys usually have parties also?

We have either breakfast or lunch at some restaurant that someone chooses. It is self pay. Whoopie. Some years, I haven't even been invited because it was just the line staff and their supervisors, which was fine and dandy with me.

We would each bring a dish, drinks(non alcohol of course) and would exchange little gifts that we bought from the dollar store or something. We tried to make the best of it and it ususally was quiet on the floor. Not many people want to be in the hospital during X-mas.

At the hospital, we don't do much, and the hosp usually has a special dinner for each shift, and each year at one hosp they gave out specially made ornaments that were really nice. they were like collectables and if you worked there long enough, you could fill the tree with all they different years of ornaments!

We also take turns hosting a come-n-go holiday gift exchange (draw names and only put your name in the bucket if you want to participate) and potluck at home.
