What does C Base mean?

Hi,

does anyone know what C Base means. I got a message from a VA clinic asking me if I was willing to work as a C Base RN assistant. Since I did not get to call her back it is bugging me. Is it another word for PRN? Thanks if you can help me with this.

To clarify, do you mean VA hospital, or the state of VA?

LOL, I saw this and thought you were thinking of free base.

Not sure about c base. Maybe it is an employment status like a .9 or a .6.

Within the VA, the "clinics" are called CBOCs. When saying those four letters quickly, it may have sounded like c-base. I think that she might have been referring to the opportunity for you to work in a Veterans Affairs "Community Based Outpatient Clinic" (CBOC).

Thanks to all who replied. I meant Veterans Affairs clinic, sorry for the misunderstanding. It could possibly be CBOC, although it sounded exactly like C base. The message she left me was about a job I had applied for months ago, and she was calling me back to let me know it had been filled, but to also let me know there were these other opportunities she had available. I just accepted a position on a mother baby unit, which I knew I was not going to be thrilled with, but it is hard to get into this particular hospital. I am working as a contractor, but later I might be able to get on as a permanent employee in another area.

In general, are VA clinics pretty good to work for?

I am not familiar with .9 or .6 status. Can you explain what that means please. Thanks!

When a hospital (or other employer) wants a part time worker, it gets entered into the budget as a %age of a full time employee ("FTE"). So 0.9 or 0.6 would mean a 90% part time position or a 60% one. 0.9 x 40 hours = 36 hours....
