Have you considered telling the mgr. in the #1choice that it would be in her best interest to MAKE an opening for you, and the sooner the better?

OK... seriously... sure don't know what would be the way to go here. I've been in positions like that before, and I know what a dilemma it can be ! Toss and turn, toss and turn.

If there's no telling when #1 choice will have an opening and you're intent on change, then I guess if it were ME, I'd go for #2 choice just to satisfy the need for change. I would also continue to let #1 choice know that the very first opening has YOUR name on it !

Just rambling here....sorry

And I just KNOW that if I got the #2 position, then the #1 position would open up. Absolutely no doubt ... Of course, I might really like position #2. '

Just sign me

Well, I went for an interview yesterday for my second choice position -- from the minute I met with the Manager, it was evident that she had already "picked" a person -- she could not wait to get out of the interview. Feeling very down today ... very. Our hospital policy dictates that all internal candidates must be interviewed. I just feel that I wasted time & energy... Thanks for listening.

Susanmary, for what it's worth...I too felt the same. But, I keep sending resumes out & go on interviews. I do hope you are feeling better today. Take care.

Doncha hate that feeling? Allegedly at our hospital all internal candidates are supposed to be interviewed. They aren't. I'm not sure what's worse - the certain knowledge that you don't have a chance or the irritation of having your time wasted.

Susan, from your posts I feel you will be a gem no matter where you go. Phhht for those managers who are too dumb to see it!

Hey girlie --

I don't know where you are at spiritually but it is an axiom that you are exactly where you are supposed to be right now. "Where" being physically AND emotionally! You are being stirred to change, and the change is already happening IMHO. You will be moved -- whether plopped into a position or life situation exactly right for you OR something within you will change and you will be glad you never left! Maybe something will be changed where you are working NOW that will make it more than tolerable.

I wish you luck AND blessings (there, I covered both angles!)
