What is caring?

by HM2Viking Premium Member

Another assignment from Nursing Foundations. What do you think?
  • What is caring? Caring is the consistent expression of values and attitudes towards another person through interpersonal behaviors which place a real value on the other person in the relationship. Caring from a process standpoint is taking the time both as a person and a professional to assess the needs of another person and taking the time to help the other person meet those needs whether they are physical, emotional or psychological. Personally, I think a caring person is someone who really tries to make a connection to another person and builds relationships through consistency, predictability and focuses on just being with the other person.
  • What makes a caring nurse? A caring nurse takes the time to listen to his/her client, is consistent, honest and trustworthy. A caring nurse will take the time to explain a treatment. A caring nurse listens! A caring nurse will take the time to reassure the anxious, comfort the afflicted and encourages the client to participate as much as possible in their own care.

Good answers. I especially like the part about "place a real value on the other person in the relationship.
