When i did my peds clinical we got to spend lots of time in the NICU. The docs their were so kind and caring. I went to get supplies out of a nursery and the one of the docs was in there singing to one of the babies. it was so cute. I was talking to one doc while I feeding a baby and he was telling me all about his patients he had in the past. he could remember what nurseries they were in and how long they stayed. he showed me his scrapbook, it had pics of every baby he had taken care in his career. the ones that lived he had school pics of. Not all docs are cold and heartless.

I have. Many times. Our docs also make housecalls to elderly folks who can't make it in to their offices. Also our doc who does the Hospice stuff visits at home. They sit at patient's bedsides and hold their hands. One of our OB docs actually cleans up the room, takes all the instruments and placenta out, wipes up the floor of obvious messes so the nurses can take care of the mom/babe.

There is another thread about the new nurse on ER so I already said this but - I too thought as a new employee she came on very strong and rude at times and thought the comment about calling her "doc" was obnoxious. Also, the way she treated Sam was wrong - even though I cannot stand Sam's character . . . you just don't start work alienating your co-workers like that. She seemed arrogant and condescending to me.

Sheesh - must we only have the two extremes . . wimpy like Sam or a ballbreaker like the new nurse manager?

And yeah, I did think the storyline dying out about the burn guy was weird . . .

I think that this is a very over compensated response to the letter writing and fury that came from the Cynthia Nixon episode if you remember she made the most ignorant comment that implied we were not educated and were just MD helpers, HOW STUPID I like Cynthia Nixon but she should have thought twice about that comment, oh the Comment was ( she was looking at the Healthcare providers around her and she looked at the former nurse now doctor and said she is smiling so it can be that bad and made some comment about Dr. Kovach, and then looked at Sam and said and I quote" How would she know shes just the nurse" WELL I WAS DONE THEN AND THERE, and I wrote me a letter as did thousands of Nurses, oh well, I think they are trying to compensate for stupid stuff like that and plus they have true competion now, HOW ABOUT GREYS ANATOMY, so I guess you do what you need to to keep ratings. and that what I think about it although I did enjoy it a bit deep inside, but in real life it wasn't the best way to handle the situation and she was inappropriate in her manner of getting her point across, but it was fun.

The new NM on the show should be interesting. There's been a bit of a drought regarding characters that you love to hate on the show since the departure of Paul Crane's "Dr. Romano." Should be interesting to see a nurse character serving up some humble pie to the doctors. Seems to be makin's for good viewing.

The new nurse manager did bug me, but she did keep my interest. I love ER, but it's good that they spice things up a bit.

I loved her! My favorite line was when she was walking out of the trauma room and said to Kovak, " Excuse me, I have to find a bedpan to empty." or something to that effect. It was great!

Question Re: TV's ER new NM, Eve

OK, I'm missing something. I have been a nurse for 13 years, I didn't know that there was a "backwards" way to wear a stethoscope. I just throw mine around my neck. What are you guys talking about?????

Question Re: TV's ER new NM, Eve

Okay...I just have to chime in here. Has anyone else noticed that Eve is really good at spouting off lots of knowledge, but doesn't do a whole lot of 'hands-on' care, even when an extra pair of hands might be needed? I can't help but think that we are going to see a show soon where it comes out that she is good with knowledge, but can't do much else or doesn't actually know HOW to do anything. I really hope that I am wrong, because it is good to have another strong nurse on the show! What do you all think?
