Tonight I get my pin!

Hello eveyone,
A number of years ago, I thought about becoming a nurse. I joined allnurses.com to lurk and find out more about the profession. Later, I took my prereqs. It seemed like such a journey just to get those out of the way. Two years ago, I was accepted into a wonderful nursing program, and tonight I am closing that chapter for I am being pinned tonight. If it were not for my circle of loyal and faithful family and friends this journey would not have been possible.

Although I haven't posted a tremendous amount, I have found SO much help here. From homework assignments to reading about bad clinical day, I found so much solice here. I owe you all a big THANKS! I am honored to be in the process of joining the ranks of such outstanding and knowledgable nurses!

In short, thanks for being there! I look forward to soon being able to call myself a REGISTERED NURSE.

Re: Tonight I get my pin!

Congratulations! I am very happy for you, and wish you a long and successful career! I was happy to see that, although you are the one to have done the work, you were smart enough to acknowledge the help of others who have helped you achieve your goal. Don't ever lose sight of that line of thought. The day you do, you will begin to diminish in your growth as a nurse. Nursing, as a profession, is a true collaborative effort. We are constantly learning from each other, and from the experiences of others, as well as our own. The brainstorming sessions that we have with other nurses when we are trying to work our way through a situation are some of the best learning experiences you will ever have. Trying to do that one your own can be daunting.
Enjoy your evening-you have worked long and hard for it!
