Exclamation Surgical stepdown vs cardiac stepdown

Hi-

I am a new grad interviewing for surgical stepdown and cardiac stepdown positions. I am looking for the job where I'll have the most exposure and learn the most. Any advice as to which position would be a better learning experience???

Thanks!

Re: Surgical stepdown vs cardiac stepdown

You will learn a lot with either one. Medical patients or surgical-take your pick. Both units will have a lot of patient turnover and plenty to do.
Look at other factors too. Does one offer a schedule you prefer? Do the nurses seem satisfied-is there a lot of turnover?

I agree with the above poster. You will get a lot of exposure in both. Cardiac you will get a lot of multiple IVs to manage. Surgical its about pain management. Either way you will learn a lot. Best of luck.
