Question? - School/Career/Specialty ???'s

Hi, I am Kelly, 45, mom of 2 in Knoxville, TN. I am one semester away from getting all my pre-reqs completed at our community college for my ASN route into nursing. I cannot decide if I should enter the ASN program in the Spring '09, or go fulltime for the next 3 semesters (did I mention I had two kids ) and then would get my BSN. My idea was to go ahead and jump into nursing school in the Spring and be that much closer to actually earning money and then complete the BSN while working part-time. My ultimate plan is to be a nurse practioner, possibly in midwifery. My other question is about your area of specialty. When and how is that decided? Do you just rotate during clincials and you see what your niche is? I am pretty clueless on some of these issues and would love some input. Thanks! Kelly
