Please forgive my accidental thank you, I meant to click the quote button. I wish there was a way to take our accidental thank you's back. I hate to see my name there...
I don't listen to Rush, I don't need to, nor do I want to. Why do people always assume?
Sorry, but your blanket anger and inability to see any other viewpoint but your own makes you far from credible. I have no need to get involved into an argument with someone who will just spew anger-and be wrong to boot.
Sheep, indeed.

I'm the very first to offer full support to our troops and pray for them every day but we have lost over 4,000 of our kids in this war not to mention how many innocent Iraqis have died in GEORGE W's WAR. I'm so sick and tired of hearing how our kids have been put into harms way to keep us free in this war. This war was never about protecting the freedoms we enjoy because Saddam Hussein, butcher that he was, was never a threat to us in the beginning and was not responsible for 9/11. This war is all about OIL and our kids and millions of Iraqis are dying needlessly just so Bush, Cheney and their oil baron cohorts can make millions!!! Give me a break, already!!!

the op was asking amount how much money could be made, instead it has erupted into the a war debate..no one can be able to tell what any other president would have done if they had been given the same information that was available at that time
if they are paying high wages it is because it is dangerous...if you feel that you can do good and make money at the same time then you decide what is best for you

Seriously. It never ceases to surprise me how people still link 9/11 with Iraq while we still have yet to find the real perpetrator - Osama Bin Laden. Meanwhile the Taliban is reestablishing themselves in Afghanistan.
On another note - I fully support our troops. They are only doing their jobs and following orders. I can criticize the person giving out those orders, as is my right and responsibility to do as a US citizen. But one thing I can't support whatsoever are these military "contractors" ei, KBR, Haliburton, Blackwater and the like. Especially these groups that hire these ex-military/special ops soldiers and pay them 300K+ to basically be mercenaries when it comes down to it. They are being paid to willfully go into a warzone and protect their employers while being paid vast sums of money. No one is keeping track of whether they adhere to any sort of rules of war, geneva convention, civilian casualties.
I had the occasion to meet one of these mercenaries at a bbq my friend who is in the military had. This guy was an ex-ranger and was recruited by one of these firms to provide protection. He told me that he was glad he could get out of the military so he could "take his gloves off and kill some hajis" while making some money. As he talked of killing people he said it with a sort of glee and a twinkle in his eyes that sent chills up my spine. I believe this guy is a genuine psychopath and I really have little remorse for him or any other war profiteers if they get hurt while trying to get rich.

The recently released Senate Intelligence Report does in fact prove that the Bush administration exaggerated the facts and flat out lied to to garner our support for this war. There are news articles all over the internet regarding this.

[quote=tashaLPN2006;2937325]Ok so i normally wouldnt respond to a thread like this because my husband, little brother, and MIL have gone over there, and my husband is now BACK over there for the second time! My MIL is an RN for the reserves, she worked in one of the hospitals tending to not only OUR soldiers, but also the INNOCCENT Iraqi's as well as insurgents who were hurt and brought to her for medical treatment. Hence the reason that this quote irks me ..."
I admire your attitude towards rendering care to the sick and injured. You are very right. As a nurse, one should care for the patient irregardless of color, creed or religion. Even if the pt is our enemy, we still need to give him the care that is appropriate without any discrimination. That is truly a professional nurse.
I totally agree with you 100% with regards to the responsibility and duty of a nurse. Thank you for taking the time to write your mind.
Unfortunately, not all nurses think the same way.

FIRST OF ALL GO BACK AND READ WHAT I WROTE.
2ndly- my bf was over there too- twice and Afghanistan as well. And I do have family members that are over there [in the Marines]/ I have Friends in the Marines -one of which just got hit by an IED roadside bomb.
3rd- while my bf was there he said he did not know who to trust. Even kids would come up to the humvees with bombs and blow our troops up. Whats to stop them from going to the hosptials where we are giving care and doing the same thing?
I NEVER said I would not help someone in need- I said I would have a hard time knowing who to trust- and you are deluding yourself if you think it would be peaceful and you could just trust whomever.
I am thankful we do have Nurses over there- ones that can help and are willing to risk their lives. There is a Nursing program in the ARMY- i am sure there are plenty deployed for that purpose. But that doesn't make me a bad person for choosing to stay here and be a Nurse here- I'm just saying that is not for me. I continue to pray for innocent lives lost over there -not matter there race, age, religion, sexual orientation- so yea- take a step down off that soap box- and see where another person stands.
I am a Christian and would NEVER consider not helping someone b/c of race or anything else. IT IS A WAR ZONE over there. So hunny maybe you need to wake up and realize that. PEOPLE -AMERICANS as well as IRAQUIS are dying over there- and excuse me for not wanting to put my life on the line for people who do not give a crap about us. There are some that do- but I'm not about to go accross the world to find out- and leave my daughter mother less. I still have to take care of her- and what good am I to her if I am dead? If I wanted to go to Iraq I would join the Army myself.

WHAT DOES IT MATTER WHO OR WHAT YOUR PATIENT IS IF THEY ARE HURT AND NEED YOUR HELP??? Do you choose to take care of one color over another? one religion over another? Would you walk away from some one that needed medical attention, attention that you are capable of giving if they had a different sexula orientation from you???? What would be the difference of working here, and a family of gunshot victims came in? Perhaps one of the parents shot their kids, thier spose and then shot themselves, do they not deserve the same medical attention and would you not try to save their lives??? And of those "Iraqi's" guess what?? most of the pts my MIL took care of were CHILDREN, innocent children who were shot, in the wrong place at the wrong time that a bomber set off one!!!
Yes she had to care for a small amount of insurgents, but for the most part she had to deal with the soldiers on BOTH sides, as well as forgien soldiers, and civillians. And the base she was at DID have civillian nurses, but only a few.
My MIL said that YES it was hard sometimes to know she was caring for an individul who just got shot, but the reason he got shot was because he was the "bomber" or whatever. but she did it because she is a nurse and although she doesnt agree with what they did, she had a responsibility as a nurse to take care of someone who was hurt/sick ect.
My husband was injured by an IED during his last deployment, he was with a small group of his soldiers and out of 7 of them 4 were injured, and guess what? there were iraqi's there that saw they needed help and helped my husband and the others get back to their base camp. without their help i may have lost him!!! for that reason alone, there are GOOD people there, who have just lived and learned things differently than us, but they all deserve a chance and good medical attention.
i however, WOULD, work there, and it doesnt matter if it was 200K or less or more!
I'l step off my soapbox now! It's just my anyway!
