Well Lola, I'll think of you when I'm kicked back with a beer and friends in my rooftop nipa hut or lying on the beach. 'Cause none of us knows how long we have, and while the US is a great place to work, it's no place to grow old and die, no place at all.
Gee thanks for the thought, Anonymurse! Hehe.
Maybe I will stop working when I turn 70, but that is still so far.
Hmm..moving to a tropical country sounds enticing.
I am looking forward to retirement at age 62, with a great pension and healthcare benefits, and then traveling the country with my husband and doing everthing I was unable to do b/c of the job and mandatory OT.
I will be glad that I have this freedom while I am only 62 years young.

Reason: spelling
Most nurses don't work into their 60's (I don't think??).
Some days I think I'll work until retirement age of 67.
Other days I don't think I could make it to 57!
I think the money will be better the longer I work, but then the freedom to do whatever I want, whenever I want sure sounds nice.

Actually there is a nurse at my hospital who is in her mid 70's and still working as a nurse! (doesn't work on my floor though). So it's definitely possible. I plan to work part time well after my 60's...but we'll see I guess.

I'm hoping to semi-retire by 62. My plan is to ease into retirement by switching to part time ... cutting back gradually in my late 50's and early 60's.
