Question about AD-VAIR for asthmatic children and steroids.....

My SIL sent me school pics of her kids. I noticed her 10 year old daughter, who is slender, really had a round and filled out face.

I was wondering to myself - when I looked at the childs picture -that it was odd that her build is so slim but she has a fat face. I thought it was odd that she was "weighty" in the face and no where else.

Yesterday, SIL told me her daughter has been on ad-vair, the dose that is the largest for steroids.

I didn't say anything, but I am curious about this. Now I know the child has a "moon face" from the steroids.

Do any of you have any experience with using advair with children? Or experience with steroids?

It's never occurred to me before to ask -
does the moon face side effect of steroids go away when the patient stops using steroids? Or is this irreversible?

If this is permanent, it would seem to me that the doctor is
negligent in not informing the parents of the side effects.

Chances are good that once she gets her symptoms under better control they will cut the steroids down or eliminate them all together. From many years of personal experience, breathing is better than the alternative. Now my grandson has asthma too and he uses an inhaled steroid.
You can research online on the advair website etc
