I am not saying I love every aspect of my job however after reading alot of the recent posts I can say I count my blessings that I have the job that I do have. I know things could be different with management, schedule and general work environment to make things better at times however I do believe that the grass isnt always greener on the other side so to speak and I feel that ask anyone in any profession and they will also feel they have it rough.
In general I feel very appreciated by the patients and their families, love my co-workers, management does listen on a individual basis and I am very well paid for my time. I think some other positive thoughts needs to be expressed in order to pick up the good aspects of nursing because like I said earlier when you are surrounded by negativity then the positive feelings diminish.
Happy Holidays!

Well, for me, nothing but my own experiences can make me feel anyway about anything. Negativity from others does not affect me. I am my own person and you have to remember that you are your own. You cannot let others form your perception of things. Now, having said that, I must say the following.
I don't feel that it's so much negativity, as it is frustration that a lot of nurses are expressing here on allnurses. It's more like frustration that many of us cannot provide the quality of care we would like to due to silly things like budgets, money dictating ratios/staffing and etc. Any nurse that wants to provide good care would have an objection to many of the things that healtcare has become. I can honestly say that yes, I do complain. But it's out of concern, not negative thoughts, that I speak up. And if we all just accept things the way they are, nothing will ever change. I truly hope more nurses speak up and stop accepting the work environment many of us deal with. It is not conducive to care and it's time for a change.
